Before starting with the article, Let us clear that today there is no full form of ITC Limited. It is ITC Limited only.
ITC was incorporated on August 24, 1910, under the name Imperial Tobacco Company of India Limited. It was in 1970 when ITC changed its name from Imperial Tobacco Company to Indian Tobacco Company.
Again, in 1974 it changed its name from Indian Tobacco Company to I.T.C Limited. Next, company deleted the dot appearing in between the three character that is I,T and C. So, now company’s name is ITC Limited without any full form or dot.
The Company removed the word ‘Tobacco‘, because of its multi-business portfolio encompassing a wide range of businesses.
So, the Word ITC Limited stand to its initial name at the time of establishment.
