There is no doubt in the fact that with the introduction of Youtube Shorts, Tiktok, and Instagram reels, videos are increasingly getting popular.
The use of videos has tremendously increased over the last few years.
However, so far there is no such report which will share the indexed status of videos embedded in the webpage.
To help you with this problem, the Google Search Console is introducing a new report called Video Indexing.
Video Index Report in Search Console
On Monday 11th July 2022, Google announced the new Google Search Console report for Indexed Videos.
If Google detects a video on your blog then a ‘Video Indexing Report’ will appear on the left navigation bar under the ‘Coverage’ option.
However, this option will not appear if Google does not detect any video on your blog. Moreover, Google will take some months to roll out this change completely.
So, don’t worry if in case this report is not visible to you. Based on your site, it will take some time to get this report at least a month.
Use of Video Indexing Report
This report will help you with answers to the following questions.
- What is the indexing status of embedded videos?
- On how many web pages Google has detected the video in it?
- Factors preventing videos been getting indexed by Google?
You’ll get the answer to the above questions in the Video Indexing Report of Google Search Console.
Kindly note unlike Video Rich Results, this report will only share the indexing status of embedded videos. It has nothing to do with the video structured data items.
URL Inspection Tool
With the introduction of this new report, the current URL inspection tool has also gone under change. Now, the URL inspection tool will highlight the video indexing status of the given webpage.
Obviously, Google will take some time at least a month to roll out this change completely. It will not be visible to you unless this change is completely rolled out.
